Tesla Delivers Its First Semi. I Have Questions

Elon Musk and Tesla had a big show and party to celebrate delivering the first Tesla Semi to a customer. The portion where Musk talked about the truck, however, was full of boasts and claims, but had little real information. The only thing we learned, in fact, is that, according to Musk, the truck can have a gross vehicle weight of 81,000 pounds and go 500 miles on a charge. That tells us little useful information, however. So I have questions.

Q&A: Who Funded Tesla Motors?

I was asked an interesting Tesla question that wasn’t totally biased or starting from a foregone premise. The question is about how Tesla Motors got financed and where that money came from. A good question. Here’s the answer.

Q&A: Why Aren’t Companies Using Tesla Patents?

In this Q&A session, I’m asked about Tesla’s open patents and why other automotive companies haven’t taken Musk & Co up on the deal. For background, Tesla announced a few years ago that the company was going to “open source” its patents and allow other automakers to use them “in good faith.” There’s a catch. A big one. That’s why no one has jumped on board. http://www.AaronOnAutos.com
