Automation, specifically automated driving, will be coming to the trucking industry. But it won’t happen as fast as some might believe and it won’t put millions of truck drivers out of work. A new study shows the more realistic, likely impact. I discuss that plus my own thoughts on automation and trucking and why it’s both inevitable and not really that big of a deal.

Jaguar Land Rover realizes that self-driving vehicles make people nervous. To counteract this problem, the company is experimenting with autonomous vehicles that can ogle people in the crosswalk. Trials of the idea are being undertaken now. Read about it at New Atlas.

AEye, a startup with significant investors, has announced the AE100, it’s first robotic perception system for autonomous vehicles.
