Audi and Partners Explain Cellular-to-Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) Technology

In this video from Audi, testing at Virginia Technical Transportation Institute in partnership with the Virginia Department of Transportation, American Tower, Commsignia, Traffic Technology Services, and Qualcomm Technologies, shows the potential of C-V2X tech for safety. The tool is a near-future in-vehicle alert device that cautions drivers when entering active work zones. When several equipped vehicles pass through the zone, the collective data can become information for other drivers entering the zone to give real-time traffic. Workers, for their part, can be audibly notified when a vehicle is entering their zone.

Talking Semi-Autonomous Safety (and lack thereof) with Benjamin Hunting

In this special episode, we talk with automotive journalist Benjamin Hunting, who appears regularly in many well-known publications, about automotive safety technologies. Specially “semi-autonomous” tech and the impact it’s having on driving habits. Hunting wrote a great article, referenced herein, about this subject for Inside Hook (https://www.insidehook.com/article/vehicles/semi-autonomous-safety-technology-breeding-bad-drivers).

Q&A: Autonomous Vehicles Are Coming When?

In this question answered, Jacob asks about autonomous vehicles. Specifically, when are they going to become prevalent and how will that affect things?

The gist of it is: fully self-driving vehicles are coming later than sooner and they won’t be a huge part of the driving population on the road for another generation. We’ll have plenty of time to adjust.

Automation in Trucking Won’t Kill Jobs

Automation, specifically automated driving, will be coming to the trucking industry. But it won’t happen as fast as some might believe and it won’t put millions of truck drivers out of work. A new study shows the more realistic, likely impact. I discuss that plus my own thoughts on automation and trucking and why it’s both inevitable and not really that big of a deal.
