The Palisade Hybris is the long-awaited, more efficient three-row SUV from Hyundai. Here are the questions asked most often about this new utility:
- What is the MPG? Front-wheel-drive (FWD) models deliver an EPA-estimated 34 combined MPG. All-wheel-drive (AWD) models dip slightly to around 29 combined MPG. In the real world, expect to get 28 or so out of the AWD model. I have not tested the FWD option.
- What is the total range? Thanks to the hybrid powertrain, some forum drivers report an impressive maximum driving range of up to 619 miles on a single full tank of gas (for the Blue SEL Premium FWD trim). Most models are capable of around 450+ as an average total range. Depending a lot on driving style, conditions, and mix.
- How much power does it have? The hybrid powertrain combines a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine with electric motors to push a punchy 329 horsepower.
- Does it have highway passing power? Yes. The engine is surprisingly good at speed.
- How is the ride quality? The Palisade in any powertrain format delivers an incredibly comfortable, quiet ride.
- What is the in-cabin technology like? The Palisade Hybrid features high-quality materials (like available Nappa leather) and cutting-edge tech. I particularly liked how well the lane-assist systems work during late-night or long highway drives.
- Are there any ergonomic issues? None that I noted. This is a family-based three-row SUV that offers a lot of adjustment in the front seats and good space in the second and third rows.
- How do the third-row seats work? Hyundai made the third-row folding mechanism require a continuous push of a button for safety in response to some early safety issues.
- How much does it cost? The Hybrid starts in the mid-$40k range, but upper trims like the Calligraphy can push toward or above the $60k mark. Most buyers should expect to be at around $50,000 or so if shopping for a Palisade Hybrid.
