Jeep putting V8-powered Wrangler Rubicon 392 into production

Back in July, Jeep debuted a concept vehicle called the Wrangler Rubicon 392. Engineers at Fiat Chrysler had worked out how to stuff Dodge’s big 6.4-liter Hemi engine into the Wrangler while keeping the Jeep’s legendary off-road capabilities intact. The concept was a hit with fans and the press, plus we noted that it looked very production-ready.

It was so much of a hit that Jeep has given it the go-ahead as a 2021 Wrangler model. Calling it the “4x4x470,” Jeep will begin producing the Rubicon 392 in its Toledo plant for the 2021 model year. The nickname comes from the engine’s 470 horsepower (350.4 kW) and 470 pound feet (637 Nm) of torque.
