Stripped bolts

For the mechanic, few things are worse than smashing knuckles because of a stripped bolt head. The hex heads of bolts can become rounded, or “stripped”, making it impossible for a wrench to grip them for turning.

Of course, once a bolt is removed, the threads on it or the receiving end can be stripped out too – another nightmare most mechanics loathe.
