Commercial drivers (those holding a CDL) are very familiar with the vehicle inspection test given to all new applicants for a commercial license. It’s a very thorough, daily check required of all professional drivers operating commercial vehicles. For many CDL holders, though, the lessons learned in daily vehicle inspections bleed over into everyday driving.
Anyone who drives a car, be it occasionally or daily, professionally or just personally, should do basic walk-around inspections. This is different from a mechanic’s inspection of a vehicle to look for possible problems, but is instead a driver’s inspection that should be done every day with additions that can be added on when doing routine things involving your car.
This inspection is quick, takes less than two minutes, and it could save your life.
